Domiciliary Care Service
Who we are
Chorley and South Ribble Mind Ltd is an independent local charity and a Company Limited by Guarantee. The organisation was inaugurated in 1986 and affiliated to National Mind as a Local Mind Association.
The organisation is governed by an Executive Committee, which is comprised of people with an interest in Mental Health issues and a number of service users who have full voting rights on the Committee.
In addition to the work at the Association Office (AO), we have four areas of work i.e. Domiciliary Care Services, Supported Accommodation, Floating Support and the Open Mind Centre Day Service.
What we do
The staff work in accordance with the Codes of Practice laid down by the General Social Care Council for Social Care Workers.
We have been awarded 'Quality Status by National Mind. As an organisation we are registered with Supporting People & CSCI (Commission for Social Care Inspection) and therefore adhere to their policies and good practice guidelines. As a charity we place quality above profit!
We provide help with household tasks, personal assistance with daily living requirements and activities that help to maintain independent living such as:
- Shopping & Budgeting
- Generating Income
- Cooking
- Cleaning
- Life Skills
- Safety….
Our service aims to prompt, promote and assist people to live as normal a life as possible, in their own home setting.

Other Services
Supported Accommodation
We provide supported accommodation for people suffering from enduring mental health problems. Services are provided by support staff, in partnership with statutory and voluntary agencies in order to enable the residents to live independently, engage in socially inclusive activities and learn skills to eventually 'move-on' to independent housing.
Floating Support
We also provide specific mental health floating-support to people who live in their own homes in the South Lancashire area, in partnership with DISC (Developing Initiatives Supporting Communities), who is now the lead 'gateway' provider of floating support for the north and south of Lancashire.
