History:

Mind Accommodation seeks to provide good quality housing, support & associated services for suitable individuals who have a diagnosis of enduring mental health problems.

We have been housing people since 1993, during this time we have built up a strong working relationship, with both the statutory and voluntary agencies in the area. These relationships have enhanced our housing, care & support services. We are aware that individuals who suffer from mental health problems are often disadvantaged in finding and maintaining decent, affordable accommodation. It is our objective to provide such accommodation for short or long term occupation for suitable individuals.

Service Provided Accommodation:

The section aims to tailor its services to the needs of the resident. Services are provided either directly by the staff or in partnership with the voluntary & statutory agencies.

We aim to provide a safe and stable environment for people to live in. It is envisaged that with the necessary support, many individuals will learn the skills to eventually move on to independent housing.

We operate within the Chorley & South Ribble area and have 19 properties, housing 32 individuals within these areas. Types of property vary from self-contained flats, hostel type accommodation, to group homes. All properties are furnished and a single weekly service charge is collected to cover utility bills and management charges.

Service provided Support:

We recognise that the needs of vulnerable people must be considered individually. We treat people as individuals, recognising their strengths and abilities, not defining them by their weaknesses.

The support offered is tailor made to their individual needs to ensure the support offered is “user-defined”. Each individual within the accommodation is allocated a support worker who takes overall responsibility for their daily support. The support workers main role is to enable and empower residents to develop and not to impose or do tasks for them.

Accommodation Referral Process

All our accommodation is allocated by referral method.

  • Enquiries will be considered from the Health Authority, Social Services and any other recognised statutory body.
  • Due to the nature of the services offered and the continuous liaison with other agencies, self-referral is not permitted.
  • After a referral has been accepted form the agency, with the applicants permission, an information request sheet is sent out to the professionals involved in the applicant care.
  • Individuals, who then meet the criteria, will be invited to an intake meeting, accompanied by a representative of the referring agency.
  • At this interview the suitability of the applicant for accommodation is discussed and a decision formed.
  • If suitable accommodation is then available and we are able to meet the needs of the applicant, a place may then be offered.
  • If no places are available, despite suitability of the applicant, than a place may be offered at a later date

We DO NOT currently have any vacancies, however you can still apply to be put on our waiting list.
